Disney Universe isn’t even trying to hide the fact that it’s Little Big Planet. You wear costumes that are oversized headpieces shaped like Disney characters and you run around collecting more costumes in a four-player co-op platformer. Except, unfortunately for Disney, I already have Little Big Planet. And I love it.

In fact, Little Big Planet 2 even has Disney DLC. So far, on the Little Big Planet website I have found all of the Incredibles, Toy Story costumes, a Tron Evolution pack, tons of Marvel stuff, and some Pirates goodies. These were all released within the last two years. So what inspired Disney to attempt to outdo Media Molecule’s adorable magnum opus?

The game, which is set to release this autumn, offers little explanation for itself. After a well publicized game like Warren Spector’s Epic Mickey, the limited information flow from Disney is somewhat uncharacteristic. Whatever the case is, my love for Little Big Planet can’t keep me from trying what looks like LBP’s uglier twin brother trying to cash in on some of Sackboy’s success. I am certainly going to miss Little Big Planet’s shark costume. Maybe Disney’s first line of DLC, which they’ve already announced, will give me the shark from Finding Nemo. Maybe after that I’ll get a DLC that’ll give me Sackboy. I think I’d be happy with that.

You know, now that I think on it, this is actually a selling point for me.  LBP was one of my top games of all time, and knowing that there will be a Disney clone coming makes me smile, big time.
