GameGeex - SoCal Regionals bringing the hype After a stunning year for fighting games, it's all coming down to one of the biggest tournaments this season.

Sometimes, being in Southern California has its benefits. I mean, where else but here can you find some of the best fighting game players around? And all of it is coming down to SoCal Regionals, which will be taking place on December 17 and 18.

For those who don’t know, the SoCal Regionals is one of the biggest fighting game tournaments in the country, and is taking place at beautiful UC Irvine. Along with having a slew of games on hand, several of which will have received their subsequent updates by the time of the tournament, the event is also having numerous sponsors. Namco Bandai, Aksys, Atlus, and AutumnGames will all be donating an extra $1000 to the pot for Tekken Tag Tournament 2, BlazBlue CS Extend, King of Fighters XIII, and Skullgirls, respectively.

For those who can’t make it to the event, LevelUp will be handling streaming capabilities, which you can check out here. And if you need more reasons to get hyped up, check out the trailer for the event after the jump. Registration is also still open, so if you want to get in on the action, best do it early to guarantee your spot (it’s also cheaper that way).
