League of Legends is starting a new war on the fields of justice. Riot Games is kicking off their season finale with a bang. Season 2 has been a great season for League of Legends, leaving me raging and laughing -- sometimes at the same time.  Throughout the year, the there will be a series of pit stops to determine the qualifiers, all leading up to the championship finals will take place on October 13, 2012 at the University of Southern California.  Why would it be at USC and not the LA Convention Center I will never know. In order for you to qualify, you need to earn points by winning or just placing in previous tournaments.

Brandon Beck, CEO of Riot Games stated: “We’ve already awarded more than $1,000,000 in prize money to the incredible competitors of League of Legends this season.” I’m sure all that money spent on character skins helped with that.

The reward in the tournament throughout the year consists of a prize pool of $5,000,000 big ones… That’s a lot of NOS and Hot Pockets! It isn’t too late to qualify; Riot is having tournaments all over the globe listed here.

  • In Mainland China, 2 teams will compete July 26 in Shanghai, China at China Joy.
  • In Europe, 3 teams will compete August 16 in Cologne, Germany at Gamescom.
  • In North America, 3 teams will compete August 31 in Seattle at PAX Prime.
  • In Korea, 2 teams will compete September 21 in Seoul, Korea at the OGN eSports Stadium
  • In Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau, 1 team is competing September 22 at Taipei, Taiwan at G1.
  • In Southeast Asia, 1 team is competing in September, Singapore at Garena Carnival.

This League of Legends tournament seems very exciting. I am hoping I get the chance to go since Los Angeles is around the corner from my home town.

If I had any skill at LoL what-so-ever, I would give this a shot and try for the big money. But I get slaughtered by the training bots, so I doubt I'd have much of a chance.
