This just in:  What we thought was a confirmation of Microsoft's next gen console has turned out to be a rush to judgment over a miscommunication.  Yesterday we thought that we had a confirmation of the Xbox 720, but today Microsoft issued the following statement:

“The comments to The Verge were not understood in their intended context. When Brian mentioned a ‘new wave of products,’ he was referring to the full lineup of products coming later this year from Microsoft, including Windows 8, Office, Windows Phone and of course our fall Xbox update which will bring a host of new consumer experiences like Xbox Music, Videos, Games on Windows 8 and Xbox SmartGlass.”

So instead of talking about a new console, Windows Live exec Brian Hall was instead talking about a suite of communication products we will see rolled out starting with the Xbox Fall Update.  This makes more sense honestly.  Since the conversation was about email and software that advances the way we communicate, it doesn't make much sense that Hall would toss in a hardware solution into the mix.  I guess we're back to waiting for official word on what we already know.  Nothing to see here, carry on.

Honestly, they could make a dramatic entrance, stand in front of a large crowd, and literally say "We officially confirm the Xbox 720".. and i'll be "What else is new?"... I can't believe they took the time to "unconfirm" it XD Oh well.. I can wait hehe.
