Nintendo announced awhile back that the Wii U is set to launch sometime before this year’s Thanksgiving holiday but an exact date was never actually mentioned. New rumors spawn from the Video Product Distributors, which takes care of wholesale distribution for Amazon.com. A listing for the Wii U was made with a release date set for November 11, 2012 and a listed price of $250.

All of this seems pretty realistic actually. However, a leak made by Gamestop awhile back showed that Wii U accessories were set to release on November 18th, 2012 which is about a week after VPD’s leak on the actual console. Note that both these days fall on a Sunday, but since the original Wii launch back in 2006 also fell on a Sunday, it seems that is Nintendo’s preferred day of choice for console launches. So both the 11th and 18th of November seem very likely.

Of course, all of this is unconfirmed and Nintendo has already scheduled an event set for September 13th in New York regarding the Wii U. We’re bound to get the price tag and the official release date then. The real question is did the Wii U impress you enough to make it a potential purchase this coming November? Nintendo had a relatively weak E3 showing, but honestly, I’m a sucker for Pikmin 3 so I may have to consider it. What do you think?

I actually didn't think their E3 showing was all that weak, it was just that they split it up so strangely.  They focused their conference information on the WiiU and then did webinars about their other products, 3DS etc.

I'm very excited for the Wii U personally.  Looking at the leaked info, I would hazard a guess that the Nov 18th date is more likely -- it's not like you want to sell a console without peripherals.
