The forces of Wrath are amassing on the battlefield, and only the forces of Order can stand against them.  You, intrepid hero, are a young, brash warrior looking to make a name for yourself, and have gathered a basic set of Scrolls to allow you to start your journey to fame and fortune.  Which side will you stand on in this war for card collecting supremacy?  Exactly how will your story be told?  There is only one way to find out.  Buy the game for access to the upcoming Closed Beta.

Scrolls has been in development for a while now, slowly building forces of its own in the shadows, but today Notch let us know that this CCG RPG is almost ready to see the light of day.  I'm sure the slowdown over the game's name didn't help the timeline any, but luckily that's been settled.  The game itself is a novel blend of RPG and card battle game, and will include a variety of match styles, an auction house wherein you can trade scrolls, and a singleplayer campaign where you can build up your scroll stock for more multiplayer fun.

It's ambitious, but when has Mojang ever done something small?  In keeping with their current business model, Scrolls will soon be available for play through a paid Closed Beta, but this time around there will be extra perks for early adoption.  The only one I was able to find was a month "free scroll" subscription that starts the day you purchase the game.  In my mind Mojang can do no wrong, mostly because they are making games purely for the enjoyment of making something fun they themselves would play, and that is a business tactic that always wins out in this industry.  I just wonder if there will be real world cards to tie into this game, allowing for both online and offline play.

I'm going to keep my eye on this.  I must admit, I've only recently discovered the glorious world of Minecraft.  Of course I had heard about it for the last few years but just recently jumped in and finally tried it out.

This game looks really fun.  I'm a huge, huge fan of Magic the Gathering.  So I have quite a bit of experience with trading card games.  This video makes the game look like a blast to play.

What really excites me is being able to build your own deck, or scroll stock as this game calls it, for multiplayer fun.  That is probably where the real excitement and fun will be.  Crafting decks and coming up with winning combinations will be a huge selling point for me.

Definitely one to put on my watch list and see where this goes!
