The new DLC for The Binding of Isaac is out now, get ready for Wrath of the Lamb!
For those who haven’t played The Binding of Isaac, this is a top down dungeon game similar to classic Zelda games, but with randomly generated rooms and floors, comparable to the indie platformer, Spelunky. Due to the sheer number of bizarre and often disgusting power-ups and items, no playthrough is alike. It was my game of the year for 2011, hands down.
Now things will be different, and a whole lot better with the Wrath of the Lamb DLC where 5 new chapters have been added, tons of new monsters and over 100 new items. The game was already quite convoluted, but that didn’t stop Edmund McMillen from complicating things even further with new item stacks, lots of hard choices, and a whole new item type; Trinkets.
Wrath of the Lamb is by far the expansion of the year, priced at just a cheap $3. I have already sunk many hours into it, and yet I’ve discovered so little. It’s quickly given me arachnophobia after being swarmed by mobs of fast moving or jumping spiders, and I've come to love chocolate milk more than ever. Five new songs have also been added to the already excellent soundtrack, which I’ve been listening to just about every day for the past few days.
Wrath of the Lamb contains more bang for buck than any DLC available. If you own the game, this add on is a must, if you don’t own the game, it’s well worth the 5 dollars.
