League of Legends season one is finally drawing up to a close, with its eventual shut down planned for the next scheduled downtime.
For the sake of Season Two, the ladder rankings are all going be refreshed. This not only gives the player a chance to turn a new leaf, but there will be some changes to the rewards system. Whenever you enter a tiered ranked status, you will have some shiny bits and pieces to go with it.
For example, you’ll be able to use shiny new icons to represent your ranking, so you can show everyone in the match making lobby that you’re a force to be reckoned with. Your profile will also get pimped out too, decorated with a banner showing your tier. Jarvan’s at Platinum and Gold rankings will get a cool new skin for him as well, which is a little strange in my books, but it’ll definitely encourage those skin-fiends. I’m quite happy with my Pharaoh Amumu skin.
If you want to have a good start into the League of Legends ELO, then you’ll be happy to know that you’re current ranking will place you in an ELO representing you’re skill – just to make sure you don’t bump into HotshotGG when you’re still a fresh-faced level 30 (like me). The limbo phase between Season One and Two won’t be penalising in anyway, as you’ll be able to upgrade your ELO as normal.
Season 2 is getting more and more exciting, and with a 5 million dollar prize pool, what’s not to be excited about? My personal goal will be to get to Gold ranking, which seems represent the top 3% in the world - which in itself seems like a daunting task. Wish me luck, and I’ll see all you guys on the Rift!
