Square Enix has released a new gameplay trailer for their highly-anticipated title, Kingdom Hearts 3, at the D23 Expo in Japan. To think there's more announcements after the 2.5 HD ReMIX reveal!
The trailer shows a ton of action which include the newly-fashionized Sora utilizing his Keyblade in different ways from before such as shooting out homing fireballs and even transforming his weapon to do so -- I can only imagine the possibilities with this new feature. As far as characters go, we get to see familiar faces like Goofy and Donald and it has been confirmed from a seperate report by gamer.ne.jp that Riku will make a return as a key player.
In-terms of action, the cinematic trailer game us sequences involving the train from "Big Thunder Mountain" as well as a Pirate-ship themed ride as summons which I think is brilliant. The game seems to have retained that magic the first two had in terms of creativity and excellent use of Disney IP. Here's to hoping for more references with Disney's purchase of Star Wars and Marvel.... Lightsaber Keyblade, please!!! That's not far-fetched though considering Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Heart's creator, is considering the addition of the galaxy far far away into his game. I'll admt, in-terms of art style, that might be odd, heh but one can hope, no?
Kingdom Hearts 3 makes its way to both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. No word on a release date yet but it was confirmed to have been in development prior to 2013's E3 Expo so hopefully Q3 or Q4 2014. Anyways, check out the video below and tell us what you hope for from KH3!
