Once again, NetherRealm Studios has released a character vignette, this time, covering Rain’s backstory for his Mortal Kombat 9 return as the third DLC character. The trailer release also comes with the announcement of the two free klassic character skins that will be accompanying him, those of Kitana and Jade’s MK2 outfits.

Orphaned by Shao Kahn’s relentless assaults on the realms, Rain was adopted by a group of Edenian rebels, and trained to fight in the resistance. He exceeded everyone’s expectations, but when he was denied his role as a leader, his arrogance caused him to betray his allies. With his new goal to obtain absolute power, he aligns himself with his original nemesis, Shao Kahn.

Rain and the free outfits will be available to download this coming Tuesday. In the meantime, check out the trailer below, and start pondering what the fourth character reveal will be.
