There's a new tatical RPG in the works -- erm, well in the Kickstarter (close enough, right?) -- being made by the great Yasumi Matsuno himself. I mean, he does have a pretty good track record and all having brought us Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, and Tactics Ogre. Now he's teaming up with a company called Playdek and hopefully, through the tons of money they're asking for from their Kickstarter campaign, we'll have this new game called Unsung Story and it'll be as good as Mastuno's reputation.
UnsungStory is supposed to be a "spiritual successor in a storied line of epic tactical RPGs designed by Yasumi Matsuno." I don't know what that means but if it pulls class mechanics and lore from all other Tactics games, then well, where'd I put my credit card? The one thing I like about this deal is the game's composer is Hitoshi Sakimoto whose done music for a ton of previous games one of which was Final Fantasy XII which has some of my favorite musical pieces in gaming. Right now, the game has all the ingrediants to be rather succesful but let's not get our hopes up yet, I mean, the game probally won't see a release date till a year from now.
If you're a fan of the Final Fantasy Tactics series, this is definitely a title to look into. At least take a look at their kickstarter page because there's a lot of info. Right now, we'll just have to see if Unsung Story becomes a reality.
Looks interesting. Unsung Story, Bravely Default, Final Fantasy XIII-3, and hopefully Final Fantasy XV. This might just be the year for RPG games.
