From Software and Namco Bandai announced today that super hardcore title Dark Souls has managed to ship over 1.5 million units worldwide. Not bad for a niche RPG title that bills itself as balls-to-the-wall hard.

The report broke down the number of units by region, with NA alone accounting for over 620,000 units. Europe and Japan took in 470,000 and 370,000 units respectively, with Asia territories pulling in 40,000. This is also in the wake of a recent patch for the JP version of the game, which fixes some game-breaking exploits, balances numerous pieces of equipment, and adds a few convenience items for merchants. A version for other regions is expected to be coming shortly.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go shank some bitches in a forest for a talking cat.
