The annual Playstation Awards has just recently passed, and the winners are officially posted. Capcom ended up taking the biggest prize, with Monster Hunter Portable 3rd obtaining Quadruple Platinum status for selling over 4 million units.
Unlike most award ceremonies, the Playstation Awards are largely focused on sales figures, similar to the RIAA certification method used in determining music sales. MHP3 ended up selling so many units that they had to create a category just for the title. Even taking the fact that the title is currently only available in Japan, and even taking the country’s fascination with the Monster Hunter series into account, that is still an impressive feat.
MHP3 also managed to get a User’s Choice award, which is voted on by Playstation users. Other titles that were voted on for this title include, in no particular order: The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Blue, Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: MW2, Gran Turismo 5, Dynasty Warriors 7, Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland, Tales of Xillia, Dark Souls, and Catherine.
So, now that we know MHP3 is tremendously successful in its home turf, can we please get a goddamn NA release already!?

You know, you'd think they'd come up with a term to describe these sorts of numbers past Plantinum. What's the most precious material in the known universe? Other than Kim Kardashian's butt of course.
Whoa, wait a second, Monster Hunter Protable 3rd has gone Kardashiass?! Thats incredible!
lol whenever I review a game and it gets a perfect score, imma put the Kardashiass logo on the banner.
Kardashiass: a step above Platinum, but not quite Unobtanium.
