Last night was the official IndieCade 2011 awards ceremony, down in Santa Monica. Platformer title Fez ended up being the big winner for the evening, taking the Story/World Design and Best in Show awards. Johann Sebastian Joust, a PS3 Move title, also got a fair share of recognition, snagging Best Technology and an award for biggest impact on the community.

As for the festival itself, that all is still set to go down the entire weekend over in Culver City. All of the nominated games will be up for display, and the developers of them will be on hand to answer any of your questions, or just to have a nice chat. There will also be, panels, board game making, and various other activities to take part in. Or you can just play video games all day. It’s all good.

The GameGeex crew will be present at this event as well, so if you’re going to be in the area, feel free to and say hi. We don’t bite. Well, I don’t at least. Can’t really say the same about everyone else.

Wish we had something like this in my area. Hell I wish Bethesda would have events here like they do in LA. That makes no sense to me when their home base is only an hour drive away from me.

I've never been to a game convention because of the negative stigma associated with them and also because I am not a big gamer. I only play the Assassin's Creed series and the COD series, oh yea and GTA 4 because I like to have the freedom of that careless environment.

Negative STigma? You should go, they're tons of fun. Everytime I go to one, I usually come accross a few whom aren't gamers or aren't "into" the game the convention is associated with but they tend to have tons of fun.

And besides, there are a few conventions that host events with multiple "pop culture" items, like comic-cons and a couple new ones in the east which I forgot their name -.-.

Nerdy is what I mean by negative stigma. I am sure they are fun, but I just haven't gone to one yet.. I might try out a COD XP sometime, if MW3 doesn't suck.

I haven't been able make it out to a game convention either, they sound like a lot of fun. It's mostly because I live in Norcal and don't really have access to any close by. I would love to make it out to E3 or a COD XP sometime though, that would be awesome.
