Blog Post

This morning I received a nice little present from Bioware in my inbox:  Freshly digitized images of the Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector's Edition.  This seems to be one of the better CE packages out there, chock full o' goodies to keep every Star Wars fan happy while they install the game.

More interesting perhaps is the fact that TOR will be running "Beta Test Weekends" starting this September.  Bioware is allowing a "select number of players" to access the game ahead of time.  Exactly how many and for how long remains to be seen, but if you're the type that needs to get in and play with your toys before they're finished building them, head on over to the TOR website and sign up.

We still don't have an official release date, but I'll be sure to ask them when I meet with them tomorrow at down at SDCC.  For now the company line "holiday 2011" will have to do.  Here are the details on the three different editions they will be offering of the game.  Yeah, like you don't want the one with the doll action figure.

The three editions of Star Wars: The Old Republic are:

  • Star Wars: The Old Republic Collector’s Edition – The Collector’s Edition includes a host of virtual in-game and physical items for the ultimate Star Wars fan. Physical items include a Darth Malgus Statue from Gentle Giant, the journal of Jedi Master Gnost Dural from Chronicle Books, The Music of The Old Republic soundtrack, a security key and a map of the in-game Star Warsgalaxy. Virtual items include a Flare Gun, Training Droid, personal HoloDancer, HoloCam, the STAP vehicle and access to the Collector’s Store, an in-game store with new in-game items exclusively for owners of the Collector’s Edition. The Collector’s Edition will also include 30 days of game time and has an MSRP of $149.99 (USD) at participating retailers.
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic Digital Deluxe Edition – The Digital Deluxe Edition has an MSRP of $79.99 (USD) and includes 30 days of game time and five virtual items, including the Flare Gun, Training Droid, personal HoloDancer, HoloCam and the STAP vehicle.
  • Star Wars: The Old Republic Standard Edition – The base edition of the game is available at retailers and online for an MSRP of $59.99 (USD) and includes 30 days of game time.

I've never tried a Star Wars MMO. And that's kinda sad.

I was a huge fan of the original StarWars Galaxies, before they re-engineered all the fun out of it.

:O!!! Man, I wasn't even going to get the game, despite how much of a Star Wars geek I am, but I..Have...To...Have..It (-_-;)
