Demon’s Souls is officially two years old. Two years of destroying weak-minded gamers and providing some of the most challenging gameplay seen in years. And Atlus is thanking the fans by starting up the first of those two World Tendency events that were mentioned a while back.

The Pure White Tendency, which starts today and runs to October 17, eases the difficulty a bit for all players. Isn’t that nice of them? Even better, some previously inaccessible areas will now be opened up and ready to explore. From then until the end of the month, the game shifts into the Pure Black Tendency, which will increase the difficulty to more brutal levels. Just like the Pure White event, new areas will be opened up for eager players to explore during this phase, and you can get some better loot from killing the various monsters during this time as well.

Just goes to show how much Atlus is dedicated to the community for the game. Sure, it will still kick your ass, but it does so with kindness and gentle loving. Well, as loving as getting burned alive by a dragon’s flame breath can be, at least.

haha, it's cool to see them still running stuff like this so long after release

Love hurts, but what can I say? The game's good.

I've never played this game and I will never play it because it sounds time consuming and difficult. I'm already caught up in my classes.

I've yet to be able to give this game a chance. After my PS3's GPU blew out I never went back to sony. Now that the new one is out for the Xbox perhaps I'll hit RedBox and give it a shot.

I never got to play this, because of my lack of a PS3, but I just picked up dark souls for 360. I haven't been able to play yet, but I'm pretty siked! :) @Martin - Haha, it's funny that you said that, I just picked up from redbox, haha.

WOW. I've played dark souls for about 7 hours now and it is RIDICULOUSLY difficult. I've kind of given up on the boss I'm currently stuck on.

For the most part the game is really good. Other than the face that there are a bunch of different servers and you have no control over which one you are on, which means the only time you'll ever get to play with your friends is by dumb luck. That was a huge disappointment to me, seeing as how a buddy of mine and I both picked it up to play together only to find out about this different servers business.

The multiplayer thing is very unfortunate. I'm pretty sure they designed it on purpose for you to feel helpless and alone and give the player the impression that they are actually a wandering, lost soul.

Of course, not playing with friends kinda sucks but nonetheless, they didn't want you to feel even the slightest bit comfortable, which would be the case if you had a friend along -.-.

That's just my multiplayer analysis of it, I haven't actually played it yet.

I can understand that somewhat but on the other hand it made the game far far less enjoyable for me. One of the big draws for me was the fact that I could take on these extremely difficult enemies along side a friend of mine. It's still a fun game, but really really difficult.
