Making a New Year's resolution is one of those things that's become a near mandatory step whenever a new year rolls around. That promise you make to improve yourself that you'll likely either never accomplish, or just flat out ignore.
However, we'd like to present something a little different on that front, in the form of gaming resolutions. Basically, we're trying to plan ways to deepen our favorite hobby, and either improve our playtime, or simply find ways to expand our horizons. Hit the jump to see what the crew has planned for 2012.
For 2012, I want to try to play more games from different genres. I've already made a good start this year by diving more into FPS titles with titles like Killing Floor and Serious Sam, and I've even found delight in more quirky titles like Trine, The Binding of Issac, and Tropico 3, all of which are different from games that I would normally play. I think moving out of my comfort zone in terms of my familiar game genres (that being RPGs and fighting titles) can expand my knowledge database, and give me a bit more insight into how games that borrow aspects from these different genres work. It's also a cheap excuse to play more video games in general.
My new years resolution is, without a doubt, 1680x1050. I would go up to 1920x1200 only if I manage to afford new monitors.
My New Years resolution is to be a better writer and ultimately be whipped less my Lord Michael! As far as gaming goes, I definitely want to spend more time completing the games I purchase and perhaps take the time to rent more games and play them for fun. I got better about it recently because of a preference I have for completing the game before submitting a review, but I wish it were something I'll always be doing, reviewing or not.
Amanda "Mandifesto" Orneck:
I'm not one for resolutions, but I do plan on making sure I scrape up enough coin for a WiiU and a PS Vita, and do my darnedest to play at least 3 games of every genre.
