Hideo Kojima just confirmed in an interview with IG, a French-based video game magazine, that there will indeed be a Metal Gear Solid 5 and it will be built on Kojima’s next-generation Fox Engine. That’s all we really know for now. He did make a couple statements that tell us the game will play out like the previous Metal Gear game and doesn’t appear to go in the direction of cutting watermelons or losing gallons of blood.

The one thing that excites me is Hideo says “there will be much question of infiltration, espionage, and convincing people to give you favor like in the last Metal Gear Solid.” I miss the stealth-based gameplay those games had to offer. And on top of that, he is interested in “the idea of social interactions in Deus Ex: Human Revolution” which is one of my favorite games. I hope they include some sort of task/favor quest system, but at the same time, I don’t wish for them to stray too far from their roots.

At least we know Solid Snake will make some sort of return despite his “demise” at the end of Guns of Patriots. "We have not yet finished with Solid Snake, despite the fact that I wanted to let him die at the end of Guns of the Patriots," Kojima says.

No real solid facts on the game have been released since as he was being interviewed, there was a “female ninja public relations officer” present who would “carve up [Hideo Kojima] into pieces.” Guess that means the man himself was under an NDA. The only thing I want to know is whether or not Hideo is helping in the production of the game. However, in a statement made to 1UP awhile back, he wanted to leave behind the MGS franchise to the younger generation of developers and work on a new project himself.

When new Metal Gear Solid 5 info pops up, you’ll find it here! Unfortunately, we’re not due to see the game until we see more details on the next-generation consoles.

ERMEGERD! I can't wait, MGS4 was amazing, and if he incorporate elements from Deus Ex into it, it might be a perfect game.
