Video

I'm not feeling so hot right now. Obviously Carbine Studios knew I needed a lift and so they sent me this little gem in my email:  The second installment of the WildStar DevSpeak video series.  The first one was on housing, and all the slick things the developers are planning to make player housing a core feature to the MMO.  This episode focuses on movement, and while movement may seem basic, the design decisions made about what movement mechanics to add to the game deeply influence how a game is played and what content it can offer.

Hit the jump to watch the video. What up.

Wow haha. All of Wildstar's videos give me such a smile. This game looks like a lot of fun.

Every time I see something new about this game, my interest in it multiplies exponentially.

The videos I have watched of people playing the game it just feels like WoW with some different aesthetics and maybe a bit more action vs the old sit and push buttons method.  A lot of the videos I saw also stripped the sci-fi down to bare minimum. So then it looked like some random fantasy setting with a little bit of tech on top. I dunno, I guess I'm just jaded.

@Mavlock:  I am guessing you're not talking about the videos I've linked, because those prove this is nothing like WoW.  Player housing integral to the core mechanics reminds me less of WoW and more of EQ2 -- and that's a very, very good thing.
