Here’s a deal you probably won’t be able to find anywhere else. Indie developer Nicholas Games is offering a little challenge of sorts for their upcoming action-horror title Afterfall Insanity. If they can get over 10 million preorders by the time the game is released, then it will be sold at the insanely low price of a single dollar.
Why are they doing this? Well, all of that is answered in the video they posted accompanying this little deal, but the long and short of it is that they want you to enjoy your games. The holidays are going to be packed with blockbuster titles, and they know you want to be able to get in on that front as well without having to make a major investment. And even if they don’t manage to get the 10 million preorders for whatever reason, all of the profits will be going straight to charity. All of it. Sucks for businesses, but it essentially creates a win-win situation for the consumer.
They are taking in preorders now, and Afterfall Insanity is scheduled to be released November 24. Spread the word. Tell your friends. Post it on Reddit. Even tell that crazy person on your block that throws cats and screams Die Hard quotes. Help get as many people involved as possible, and you might be getting the game for the same price as a box of trash bags at the 99 cent store.
Well that really cool. As amazing as that is, I feel kinda bad taking a game (that looks to be...) as good looking as Aftermath for only $1... then again, $10M pre-orders, that's a ton of money anyways heh.
That's a pretty cool thing to do, I really admire that he's giving all of the profits to charity, that's a pretty noble thing to do.
Anyways, haven't really heard of the game, hope it's good.

That is a very good deal these developers are putting out, they want to stand apart from the other developers and really give back to the gaming community (at least the people who are interested in third person horror shooters). Does anyone know if there is a pre-order counter or something? That would be very helpful. I might go pre-order this soon because it not only benefits gamers, but it benefits a charity (which for some reason they did not name in the video). Will you guys pre-order Afterfall Insanity?
I think this is a brilliant marketing idea by the developer. I mean if they hit 10 million preorders, well that's 10 million dollars gross. Honestly that's no huge hit, drives up their numbers and give them a great revenue to fund further projects with.
They hadn't said which one, though I imagine they'll give more details later on/if it happens.
Didn't the guy in the video say that they were going to donate even if they didn't reach 10 million pre-orders?
100% of it goes to charity if they don't make it right? But if they do, 10% gets donated? That could be backwards, i'm unsure.
What do you guys think the odds are of them actually reaching 10 million?
Woah, I just watched the charity part again and he said that they are going to give 100% to the charity if they don't reach 10 million, that is really generous. At first I thought they were only going to give 10% to charity now matter what. So you are right Ken, thanks for clearing that up for me.
I don't think the odds are very high of this game attaining 10 million pre-orders because many people don't know of this game (in fact, I just found out about it today). Also, most of the people that do know about this game aren't drawn in by the fact that it is a horror genre. Most of the people that know of this $1 deal are probably to lazy to pre-order it and overall don't want to take the risk. Lastly, Afterfall Insanity is the first of it's series, so people don't have a feeling for how it will play. That's just my rant, what do you guys think?
I agree with you, unfortunately I don't think it will get anywhere near 10 million. It's just not well known enough and isn't the most appealing genre in the world. I also just heard about it today.
I think the deciding factor is not the "well-known" factor because it's spreading fast. What they're doing has attracted every news-site out there and the word is moving for sure.
But as gamers, and for a game title that's fairly new, we're gonna be lazy with this kind of stuff. Difficult to pull out the wallet and put down $1 on a pre-order we might not even get. It may just be $1, but it's "a lot" of work heh. Of course, there will be people that will put down the $1, the question is will there be enough? They definitely need a pre-order counter to make it more interesting.
Yeah, it would be interesting to track the progress of it, if I saw it getting close I would be more inclined to preorder it myself.
Nice idea for my opinion and i take one copie for fun.
i'm thinking what happen after 25th November :)
I just can't wait for the demo version of Afterfall InSanity :D Good thing is that, that they're donating a charity organization - God will bless them ^^
