Namco keeps on bringing more excitement to the table with each and every announcement for Soul Calibur V. This time, we got four new reveals, and each of them Seem to have something new about them.

First up, we got Xiba, a monkey boy that practices the same Ling-Sheng Su martial arts style as Kilik, staff and all. He might be the replacement for his predecessor, which brings Kilik’s own whereabouts in the game further into question. In the story, he’s traveling with Maxi, Leixia, and Natsu. Also, his appearance and staff usage seems to bear some resemblance to the Monkey King character in the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West.

Next up is Aeon, seemingly an upgraded Lizardman. Whether it’s the same one or a different creature isn’t certain, as his bio simply states, “The memories of his family and homeland have mixed with the memories of his prey.” What makes him different from the Lizardmen of old, however, is the fact that he dual wields handaxes this time, instead of the axe and shield that originally held similarity to Cassandra and Sophitia. Oh, and he also has wings for some reason. Evolution in practice, perhaps?

Cervantes is one of the returning characters, and he seems to have acquired a new, more human-looking, body (one that he’s had for 12 years going into the events of V), compared to his ghostly visage in his last iterations. His bio suggests that he returned to the life of a pirate, causing havoc on the high seas. Meanwhile, his relationship with his daughter, Ivy, probably hasn’t improved a whole lot.

Finally, my personal favorite character, Yoshimitsu, also makes his return. Though despite the same name, this one is apparently a new person that shares the title, as his bio states that he was raised by “Yoshimitsu the First.” His art image also shows him holding the first Yoshi’s mask, a sign that he either passed on, or simply handed the title down to his successor and vanished. He still leads the same band of chivalrous thieves, however, and his extremely over-the-top and disorienting fighting style should hopefully still be intact.

The game is set to come out in February 2012, and there’s still some time for more character reveals. In the meantime, you can check out some of the images for each of the new reveals below. Which ones are you hoping make a return?
