Perhaps you were living under a rock back in 2010 when a little video called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth started sweeping the web. This short was a concept piece by director Kevin Tancharoen to bring the Mortal Kombat series into a more realistic setting. The video was generally well received and his concepts got people talking, but Warner Bros. didn't see mass market appeal they would want for a film. Instead they greenlit it as a web series.
Mortal Kombat: Legacy debuted on Machinima in 2011 giving us backgrounds for the major players in the Mortal Kombat universe. It was particularlly well done and he was able to bring back some of the cast from his concept trailer. Still the fans cried out for more, I mean this is the internet after all and no one is ever truly happy. None the less there wasn't much breath held as many a Machinima series has landed in developement purgatory with all hope lost. I'm looking at you Bite Me, where is my season three?
This story has a happy ending though, because below you'll find the trailer for season two of Mortal Kombat: Legacy. They wrapped up production back in december so everything is ready to go. It looks like most of the cast from the original didn't return or was replaced. Though there is one face you might recognize from the original Mortal Komat, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa. That's right folks the real Shang Tsung is back and your soul is his!
No, I wasn't living under a rock, I just never saw it. This looks interesting, even if it is for a fighting game.
