Nintendo is clearly doing whatever they can to keep the support they’ve got for the 3DS going, especially after a shaky launch. Now, they’ve got a solid release schedule set for the coming months that should get antsy gamers excited.
So far they’ve confirmed at least one first party game for each of the coming months until the end of the year. That includes Star Fox 64 3D coming September 9 (along with a fire red color model for the handheld), and a new Pokemon game, Pokemon Rumble Blast, that should be on store shelves on October 24. Meanwhile, the newest reveals are the dates for the new Mario and Mario Kart games. Super Mario Land 3D is set for a release in November, while Mario Kart 7 will be coming in December.
All of this, of course, is on top of the recent price drop, and announcement of the Ambassador program (a big danke to Wal-mart for the early deal), which will reward gamers with 20 free classic games. It’s like a four month long Christmas!
This kind of Hail Mary play is intended to help get Nintendo back on the right track, which they may need before the jump to the WiiU next year. Just hope my wallet can keep up with all of this...
Ive still got the original DS. If/when I manage to get the money for a 3DS, Ill have skipped the DSslim, DSi and DSiXL entirely. I feel so left behind.
I was essentially in the same boat. Stuck with old brick DS since the original release, never saw a reason to upgrade since it still worked fine. 3DS really is damn impressive though. Just needs some games to come out for it.
