PC gaming peripheral company Razer sent out a very clear message to console companies today. PC gaming is not dead.

In an open letter directed straight at the big three of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, Razer stated loud and clear that the PC gaming community is still going strong, despite the state of affairs they have fallen into. According to their letter, there are more than 300 million PC gamers across the globe, with the number going up with each passing day, more than the userbases of the Xbox, Playstation, and Wii combined.

The message also says that they wish to achieve an open gaming platform for everyone to jump in on. With that in mind, they announced that they will be unveiling a new project of theirs very soon; on August 26, to be exact, during the PAX Prime event at Seattle, Washington. This project in particular is meant to be one that will “bring a new age of openness and innovation to all gaming.”

Could it be possible that Razer is throwing their name into the first party gaming hat? And what about this “openness and innovation” they speak of? Could it be cross platform gaming?

Let the speculation commence!

The longer this console generation hangs on, the bigger the graphics gap between consoles and PCs. I can't see PC gaming ever dying.

PC gaming will never die. But it's all about the convienance. Though technically, a PC that you can game on is in all essence convienant, a console hooked up to a TV attracts a vast amount of people.

As for graphics gap.. well perhaps... consoles are gonna get a lot more hi-tech in-terms of gaming(as PCs do) but the games are gonna start using more sophisticated engines that are more optimized for gaming because they're on console.

But remember, PC gaming has a larger amount of players because of the genre of games it(i'm gonna say primarily(?)) supports, and that's the MMO/RPG, and RTS community. They also have some of the fps community as well so it adds up.
