Today EA and Starbreeze Studios officially announced what many had known for a while, that Syndicate was being reborn.  This reboot of a favorite franchise got me thinking about games gone by that never got their fair shake when they were first released.  I would list Ico as one of these games, a quiet sleeper that was long on charm but short on sales.  I was very happy therefore when I heard at E3 that it would get a rerelease this Fall.

What games would you like to see remade?  I'll also extend the question to those games that got canned (Oh Armada of the Damned, how I would have loved to have known you!)

I don't want it to be remade, just update. That game would be Eternal Darkness. I would love to play that in HD.

I second Martin's vote for a new Eternal Darkness, and I submit the following:

Drakan (Order of the Flame had some brilliant ideas that its sequel didnt really deliver on)

Die by the Sword Had a unique 1:1 sword:mouse motion mechanic that would translate well to a Move/Kinect/Wii title

Quest for Glory The closest thing to a true Role Playing Experience we had in early PC days.

Im sure there is more, I'll add them as they pop into my head.

Funny you should mention Quest for Glory, I saw Brain Reed mention that as one of his fears. He feared it'd be the next FPS and completely destroy his teenage/childhood memories.

Quest for Glory as an FPS would definitely be wrong, no doubt about it. But as a new Adventure/Action title with updated graphics, it would be a glorious thing.

Shadowrun RPG, not the FPS attrocity from recent history.

Thirding Eternal Darkness. Also adding Astyanax (either version, really).

[Sarcasm] I wish they would reboot Masters of Magic!  It would make a fantastic first person shooter! [/Sarcasm]

Seriously, I don't think any reboot will ever do justice to the original, since the only thing todays mainstream video game industry can produce of any quality are first person shooters, and then only about a quarter of those are worth playing.

I'd love to see a Star Control 2. Or River City Ransom. Or Blaster Master.

An actual newer version of Mario RPG maybe. Though that technically isn't bringing back a franchise... maybe go back to my earlier childhood and say Spyro, Banjo Kazooie, ratchet and clank, and what not xD.

Oh Star Control that's a good one too.
