I am excited for all these Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy related announcements but when I thought it all peaked, Square Enix pulls out the next HD ReMix. Kingdom Heart 2.5 HD ReMIX has been announced and it will be exclusive to the Playstation 3. Cool, another HD edition, however, this release will include games that were once exclusive to Japan: Kingdom Hearts: Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix, as well as cinematics from Kingdom Hearts Re: Coded.
What I'm most interested in are those previously Japan-exclusive titles. Not sure what that means since both Re: Coded and Birth by Sleep saw portable releases via DS and PSP so I'm assuming they are referring to Final Mix. Still, the thought of playing these games in HD on the big screen is very enticing. Everyone needs to jump in on that bandwagon, adding three pieces of previously region-based content just makes the purchase almost like buying a whole new game since some people, including myself, won't have the slightest idea on what those three bonus titles are about having only played the console renditions (KH1 & 2). While I doubt they were full-on AAA titles, I still think the added bonus of recieving more content is enough to warrant the purchase in the first place.
Whenever companies get a chance, I think they should release an HD remake of some of their best titles. They do it with Halo and Metal Gear, why not all the others? Kingdom Hearts 2 was one of my most favorite games and even though I've beaten it before, it's just one of those games where I don't mind beating it again and again. I'm sure a lot of you out there feel that way about a certain game. I would kill for an HD remake of Knights of the Old Republic... Come on Bioware, free money is looking right at you!
Kingdom Hearts 2.5 HD ReMIX will be available sometime 2014. Such a long wait! But we have still have 1.5 HD to deal with.... I might have to pick it up to keep myself fueled till that big monster of a launch. While we're here, comment below on what HD remake you would love to see!
