Finally a game that both Arturis and I can enjoy! Today Digital Harmony, a new Mobile game developer, announced their first game -- Dragons vs. Unicorns. Set in a steampunk world, this little cross platform game pits the fiery lords of the air against the charming embodiment of cuteness. I guess dragons hate cute.
I really think cross-platform gaming is the future. There are very few multiplayer games out there right now that allow a PC player to game alongside an Android user. The fact that they are aiming to create a title that allows for all Mac, PC, iOS and Android users to play simultaneously should be applauded. Granted, I was already applauding for the game's concept, but that's just because The Last Unicorn was my favorite movie as a kid.
Dragons vs. Unicorns will be available on iOS, Tablets, Android, PC and Mac early 2012. It will be available in my heart forever after.

I like how this game is cross platform and its a cross between feminine and masculinity. It even shows it in the title. ^_^

Weird title, but anyway now that this game has come out on cross platforms, other companies will rival it and come up with better games for cross platforms, not saying this game isn't good. Just like companies do for any other product (i.e. ipad vs. Samsung Tablet).

Cross-platforming is the future. Final Fantasy XI had PC players game with Xbox/PS2 players and will soon be the same for XIV. Counter Strike: GO will also have PC to console cross-platforming which will most likely mark the start of cross-platforming on all shooters of the future. Just a matter of time before everyone can do it.

I can't wait for that! Cross-platforming every shooter from now on sounds like it would be awesome. My only concern is whether one platform would have an advantage over another in one particular game. What do you think about that?

PC gamers would have a huge advantage over the average console gamer because of peripherals. Mouse will always beat a controller in the hands of a standard gamer, for sure... of course, I am a controller/gamepad exclusive player and have never failed to out-shine players who use mouse and keyboard even in complex UI MMOs like FFXI and varying shooters. I'm not going to go in-depth on the whole indivdual player mechanic like I normally do, heh.
When the time comes, there will be peripherals or other devices released to help counter that i'm sure. As for now, only time will tell what happens.

Yeah, that's my only concern with cross-platforming. Other than that i think it would be a great idea. I'm interested to see what they do to counter this issue.
